Hi, new Mental Health First Aiders!

You did it!

Thanks for attending Mental Health First Aid and choosing me to be your Facilitator!

I am confident you will continue to learn and help others.  I want to let you know you can contact me at any time.  I am always creating something new, whether it is a blog post, mental health guides, or printable materials.  If you have any questions, ideas, or comments, I am more than happy to respond.

Good is never good enough for me - to meet the needs of every learner, I am constantly reflecting on what I do and how to improve.  The Mental Health Commission of Canada wants every Canadian to be trained, which requires motivation and creativity!

There's always more!  Our brains can sustain attention for twenty minutes.  I do not want you to forget what you learned, so I am sharing some helpful materials.  I update my website as often as I can with free material to keep your skills fresh.

The Canadian Mental Health Association of Ontario has an article about the health risks experienced by the broader 2SLGBTQ+ community:  https://ontario.cmha.ca/documents/lesbian-gay-bisexual-trans-queer-identified-people-and-mental-health.

Can I ask for one last thing?

I am not a licensed therapist or counsellor. I do not provide medical or clinical advice.  If you have questions about your health, kindly consult your physician or mental health professional.  If you need to speak with a nurse, call 811.  If you need crisis support, call the Distress Centre at 403-266-4357.  If it is an emergency,  call 911 or go to the nearest emergency room.

I am grateful to honour the Indigenous Peoples in Treaty 7 territory: the Blackfoot confederacy: (Siksika, Kainai, Piikani); the Îyâxe Nakoda (Bearspaw, Chiniki, and Wesley) and Tsuut’ina nations; as well as the Métis Nation of Alberta, Region 3 within the historical Northwest Métis homeland.  Their stewardship kept this land pristine for countless generations.  We are all treaty people.  Reconciliation is an ongoing process of healing and honouring those who came before us and what they endured.  Learn about my own reconciliation projects here.
